In 2015, more than a third of all general aviation aircraft deliveries came from Wichita airplane manufacturers Bombardier Learjet and Textron Aviation’s Cessna and Beechcraft in Sedgwick County. So it’s probably not a big surprise that the county boasts a larger number of active pilots than any of the state’s other 104 counties – and than any counties in Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Sedgwick County Jail, ICE resolve dispute on detentions
It’s good that the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement appear to have resolved their dispute about detaining people suspected of being illegal immigrants. When ICE wants a jail inmate held for an additional 48 hours, it will now provide the sheriff’s office with a federal warrant.

Extending the holding time of people in jail is illegal without a criminal charge, warrant or court order. And doing so exposes jails to lawsuits.
