Arizona lawmakers again push for split of 9th Circuit Court
Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation are again trying to split up the federal appeals court whose nine-state territory includes Arizona. A bill introduced Thursday by Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake would put Arizona in a new 12th Circuit with Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Washington while leaving California, Hawaii and Oregon plus Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands in the 9th Circuit.

A congressman from Arizona has announced that he won’t challenge U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake during his Republican primary next year. The Arizona Capitol Times reports that Gosar told reporters this weekend that he was considering challenging Flake, who has upset some Republicans by clashing with President Donald Trump.

Congressman: Obama not creating Grand Canyon monument
President Barack Obama has decided against creating a national monument covering areas of public land around Grand Canyon National Park, an Arizona congressman said Friday. Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva said White House Council on Environmental Quality officials told him of the decision during a meeting earlier this week.
