Four Assemblymen Call On Cuomo To Authorize Municipal Occupancy Fees

Four local lawmakers have written to Gov. Andrew Cuomo reminding him of his promise to sign legislation authorizing the imposition of municipal occupancy fees in certain Westchester and Orange communities. In a letter dated Thursday, Dec. 29, the members of the state Assembly noted that in late 2015, the governor had vetoed a series of hotel occupancy tax bills that would have affected 13 municipalities in Westchester County - Greenburgh, North Castle, Tarrytown, Irvington, Ardsley, Elmsford, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Sleepy Hollow, Tuckahoe, Mamaroneck, Harrison and Port Chester - and one in Orange County, Woodbury.

Greenburgh Street Will Close For Emergency Work

A section of Payne Street underneath the Sprain Brook Parkway in Elmsford will be closed for emergency work this week, lasting until Christmas Eve. According to Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, through approximately 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, the segment of roadway will be closed to traffic, with two daily exceptions.

A Westchester County resident attempting to purchase items with an illegal credit card is now facing drug charges after admitting to an off-duty police officer that he had marijuana on him at the time of his arrest. According to a Greenburgh Police Department report, at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday night, an off-duty police officer working security at Sam's Club in Elmsford was alerted to a possible case of fraud after Fauntane Shubrick attempted to make a purchase with a credit card that "appeared to be fake."
