Honesty, Forgiveness Are Themes of High School’s Leadership Day In Elmsford

Students at Alexander Hamilton Jr./Sr. High School in Elmsford learned about the act of forgiveness during a special assembly on Leadership Day, Feb. 17. The event, which took place in the high school auditorium, included three speakers from Breaking the Cycle, an award-winning program that stresses honest communication and forgiveness as a way of resolving conflicts by incorporating the real-life experiences of people. This is the second time the group has presented at the high school.

Wojcik, a 12-year hospitality industry veteran who has managed hotels in Westchester County and elsewhere in upstate New York, will oversee the hotel's operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting. Wojcik joins M&R Hotel Management from the Hampton Inn White Plains/Tarrytown in Elmsford, New York, where she was general manager from 2015-2016.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Dontae Degree of 57 Town Green Drive, Elmsford New York, was found guilty today after a jury trial before Judge Barbara Zambelli of: On August 25, 2015 at approximately 1:35 p.m., several gunshots rang out in front of 127 Morningside Avenue in Yonkers. A Yonkers Police Officer who was nearby raced to the location and discovered two men who had been shot sitting in the front seats of a Hyundai Sonata.

Elmsford Man, 20, Found Guilty Of Murder In Shooting

An Elmsford man is facing life in prison after being found guilty of murder for his role in a daytime shooting as a teenager two years ago. On Friday, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino announced that Dontae Degree, 20, was found guilty by a jury trial for a 2015 shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured in Yonkers.

Heavy Snow, Low Visibility Result In Treacherous Westchester Roadways

Heavy snow combined with poor visibility due to whiteout conditions has resulted in treacherous travel Thursday morning as the major winter storm makes its way through the Hudson Valley. Farther west, another disabled vehicle, this one on eastbound I-84 was reported at 9:15 a.m. at Route 9D/Route 52. A stretch of the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway was closed briefly shortly after 9 a.m. in Elmsford at Route 119 due to two disabled vehicles.

Alleged Prostitute Arrested In Scarsdale, Police Say

A 48-year-old woman was arrested in Scarsdale last week when a routine police inquiry determined she had a warrant out for her arrest for allegedly prostituting out of Elmsford. According to a Scarsdale Police Department report, while investigating suspicious activity shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 on Post Road, patrol officers came into contact with Bronx resident Stephanie Womble.
