Elmsford Woman Busted For Allegedly Stealing $35,000 From School

Following the sentencing of a former New Rochelle schools director and contractor who were embroiled in a corruption scheme, a former secretary at the district is in hot water with the law after allegedly stealing more than $35,000 over a five-year scam. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced this week that Elmsford resident Marisol Martell, 37, who worked as a school secretary in New Rochelle was arraigned on a 49-count felony complaint in local court over the alleged theft.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Marisol Martell of Elmsford was arraigned on a 49-count felony complaint in New Rochelle City Court on charges related to her theft of money from the New Rochelle School District while working as a school secretary. The complaint charges one count of Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree as a Crime of Public Corruption, a class C felony; one count of Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a class D felony; and 47 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, each a class D felony.

Elmsford Man Pleads Guilty In Shooting Of Retired Greenburgh Officer

An Elmsford man accused of shooting a retired Greenburgh police officer in 2015 after he confronted him during a burglary of an empty house, has pleaded guilty to the crime, according to the Westchester County Acting District Attorney James A. McCarty. Taqiy Walton, 35, pleaded guilty to felony assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, in the shooting of Peter Schmidt Sr. , said McCarty.
