American Cassie De Pecol has become the first documented woman to visit all 196 countries in the world and she did so at record speed. De Pecol, 27, managed to get around all 196 sovereign nations in 18 months and 26 days – less than half the time it took the previous Guinness World Record holder, says a CNN report.

Zenefits is laying off nearly half its staff as the software startup grapples with the fallout of insurance violations that resulted in hefty penalties from state regulators. The company, which offers free human-resources software to manage benefits and payroll while making its money as an insurance broker, said on Thursday that 430 employees would lose their jobs.

Apple to start assembling iPhones in Bangalore by April

Apple plans to start assembling the iPhone in Bangalore by end April under a contract manufacturing arrangement with Taiwan’s Wistron. The move by the company comes even as it awaits approval from the federal government for some of its proposals for lowering the import duties on components and for creating an ecosystem of local manufacturers who can supply components for the smartphones, according to sources close to the situation.

Indian police investigate New Year sex attacks

Indian police have filed a case after finding “credible” evidence that groups of men sexually assaulted women at a New Year’s eve celebration, an incident that has sparked widespread outrage. Praveen Sood, the police commissioner of Bangalore city, said an inquiry had been set up into allegations women attending the Saturday night celebrations were chased, groped, molested and robbed.
