Jail for pair at the helm of a car crime racket

TWO men who unknowingly sold over A 100,000 worth of stolen cars to the police during a six month sting operation called Operation Red Anvil have been jailed. Dean Cronin, 41, and Daniel Gordon, 28, both from Cardiff, were operating at the top of a criminal network and were behind a campaign which saw luxury cars being stolen from driveways across south Wales.

High praise for growing group

Friends of Morgan Jones Park & Community Allotments have scooped Keep Wales Tidy’s Sustainable Futures award in Cardiff after previously picking up the outstanding contribution to volunteering prize at the 2016 GAVO Volunteer Achievement Awards. Martin Kelly, who supports the group in his role as environmental participation officer for the Caerphilly basin cluster, has heaped praise on the group for the recent success and hopes it fosters more people to get involved with green initiatives across the county borough.

A DISABLED man and other residents who say they feel intimated by vandals are demanding the installation of CCTV cameras to combat anti-social behaviour in their streets. Basil Sujeeun, who has lived in Newport since 2010, has spoken out over “constant” anti-social behaviour taking place along George Street.

Appeal after rise in cat poisonings

CAT owners are being urged to be cautious after new figures have revealed a jump in poisoning incidents across certain areas in the past year. The latest figures depict a rise in Caerphilly borough while their has been a slight drop in nearby Torfaen.
