Tougher English tests could be introduced for cab drivers across West Yorkshire

Calderdale Council is expected next week to approve the introduction of an in-house English test for all new applications for both hackney carriage and private hire licences. A report to the authority’s licensing and regulatory committee outlines that this is set to be part of a consistent approach across the region, whereby all authorities are considering introducing a minimum standard equivalent to ESOL Level 3. But Bradford is still considering options when it comes to making changes to its current English test for cabbies, it has emerged.

Business Park plans move a step closer

A BUSINESS park and Enterprise Zone at Clifton in Brighouse , which is set to create hundreds of jobs, has moved a step closer. Calderdale Council has teamed up with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership to transform the empty site into a business park to house Calderdale’s growing firms.
