Indian, Malian ministers hold first ever joint commission meeting

New Delhi , Mar. 4 : Minister of State for External Affairs, M.J. Akbar visited Mali from March 2 to 3. During his visit, the minister co-chaired the first ever Joint Commission Meeting between India and Mali along with the Foreign Minister of Mali Abdoulaye Diop. The discussions reviewed the bilateral engagement between the countries in various sectors like agriculture, energy etc and laid out areas of future co-operation, particularly in security and technology, according to a statement.

Ansari in ‘rule of politics’ rap

New Delhi, Feb. 14: Vice-President Hamid Ansari today cautioned against any attempt at “homogenisation” of India’s pluralist society and undermining of individual liberties while asking the State to adhere to the rule of law instead of the “rule of politics”. He also argued against any understanding of internal security in terms of just law and order and the tendency to handle it with greater militarisation rather than addressing the vital concerns of livelihood, rights and culture.
