The community of Fishguard and Goodwick enjoyed an evening of music, drama and poetry last Saturday, January 21, during the twin town’s annual Hen Galan concert. The bilingual event, which is now in its sixth year, was held at St Peter’s Church Goodwick and raised funds for three local charities: Cwtch Pembrokeshire, which supports young adults with long term or chronic physical health conditions; Crossroads carer support service and the newly opened Rainbow Cancer Support Centre in Fishguard.

Bennington MFA writing program hosts reading series

Critically acclaimed, award-winning authors and faculty of the Bennington College Writing Seminars will offer an evening reading series during the MFA program’s winter residency from Thursday, Jan. 5 through Friday, Jan. 13. Each event in the Writers Reading series occurs from 7 to 8 p.m. in Tishman Lecture Hall, with one exception . All events are free and open to the public.

Thousands of people are expected to descend on the Fenland town from all over the world for the annual event, which this year runs from January 13-15. The colourful folk festival will see about hundreds of performers follow the Straw Bear around the town, on what promoters say will be a “fascinating weekend of music, colour, humour and dancing.”
