Bengal CM announces three more hill developmental boards

Siliguri, Jan 22 – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday announced the formation of three more developmental boards for hill people and rolled out a Rs 100-crore project for tea garden workers. She claimed that the state government could have done much more developmental work for the hill people if it had complete control over local municipalities and the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration , a semi-autonomous body that administers the Darjeeling hills.

Demonetisation hits Indo-Bangla trade fair

Siliguri , Jan. 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation decision has hit the Indo-Bangladesh trade fair in Siliguri, Darjeeling. [NK India] The eight-day long trade fair, organized by Bangladesh Export bureau permitted-Wren Business globally, showcased mainly garments, electronics, food items, melamine, sarees and world famous Ilish fish.
