5 Afghan teens who raped boy to be expelled from Sweden

A Swedish appeals court has overturned a lower court’s ruling and ordered that five Afghan teenagers convicted of the aggravated rape of an underage boy should be expelled from the country. The Uppsala District Court had ruled in December that the teens couldn’t be expelled because they are under 18 and because of the security situation in Afghanistan.

A raunchy novel for teenagers that was banned in New Zealand has won a rare “perfect 10” rating from an American young adult fiction website. The novel, Into the River by Aucklander Ted Dawe, has been rated 10 out of 10 in an annual list published by VOYA , which calls itself “the leading library journal dedicated to the needs of young adult librarians”.

Man jailed over acid attack in takeaway that left teen with sight loss in one eye

Michael Johnson, of Twyford Way, Canford Heath, was jailed for an acid attack on two teenagers in a takeaway in Sheffield Michael Johnson, aged 29, and Benjamin Brightmore, 26, got involved in a row with a group of teenagers in Maranto’s takeaway in Sheffield, during which acid was thrown in the shop. Two teenagers, a boy and a girl both aged 17, were sat at a table inside the takeaway when Johnson threw ammonia in their faces while Brightmore was at his side.

Service cuts number of ‘NEET’ teenagers in Blackburn with Darwen

THE number of teens classed as not in education, employment and training in Blackburn with Darwen is falling thanks to a new team, figures show. Council-run service New Directions, which launched earlier this year, offers programmes and careers advice to youngsters who are at risk of falling out of education or training when they finish their GCSEs.
