A MAN has been banned from every pub in his town and handed a suspended prison sentence after he attacked staff who refused to let him into a pub. Darren David Evans, 41, of Hamilton Close, Bicester, was sentenced to four months’ in prison, suspended for 12 months and given a two-year community behaviour order at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on March 3. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, one count of theft from a shop and one count of drunk and disorderly.

Custody court cases set for axe in Burnley

ANOTHER major shake-up of the magistrates courts system in East Lancashire has been criticised by a senior county councillor and a former MP. Ministry of Justice bosses have confirmed Burnley, Pendle and Magistrates Court will no longer take custody cases from May 1. More than 600 drivers spoken to in anniversary checks by police investigating Dean Stansby stabbing

Between 5pm and 8pm officers carrying out anniversary checks in the Ancaster Road area of Ipswich handed out appeal leaflets relating to the attack on Dean Stansby. Mr Stansby, aged 41 and of Trimley St Mary, died of a stab wound to the abdomen in Ipswich Hospital, where he had been taken after the incident on February 8. A month on from the stabbing, officers stopped and spoke to around 635 motorists who were travelling through the area and identified more than 35 people who may have relevant information to the investigation.
