Ryanair Holdings Plc is closing in on a series of agreements that could see the discount giant take control of an even bigger swathe of European short-haul travel. The Dublin-based company is seeking deals with carriers including Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, Aer Lingus, Alitalia SpA and Deutsche Lufthansa AG under which its flights would help feed passengers onto their long-haul services.

Etihad CEO Says Gulf Carrier Has No Plans to Invest in Lufthansa
Etihad Airways PJSC has no plans to take a stake in Deutsche Lufthansa AG, though the carriers are exploring the possibility of expanding their recent cooperation agreement, according to James Hogan, the Persian Gulf company’s chief executive officer. Asked Wednesday if Abu-Dhabi-based Etihad would be buying Lufthansa, for which it has been touted as a possible investor, Hogan replied “no.”
Lufthansa, Etihad to Explore Deeper Links After Code-Share Deal
Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Etihad Airways PJSC of Abu Dhabi agreed to share seat sales in the first step of what could be deeper cooperation between the former adversaries. The two airlines will initially code-share on Etihad’s twice-daily flights linking Abu Dhabi with Frankfurt and Munich, and the German carrier’s services connecting Frankfurt with Rio de Janeiro and Bogota, according to a joint statement on Friday.
