Report: Former Westchester NBA Star Hospitalized After Conflict With Woman

Ex-NBA player and former Sixth Man of the Year Ben Gordon was reportedly hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation following an incident involving a woman at his Mount Vernon business. The Journal News reported this week that police had to be called to Of Our Own - his recently opened holistic wellness gym downtown - at approximately noon on Saturday, when a "distraught" woman reported to officers that Gordon had locked himself in the back of the building with a knife.

Former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Ben Gordon was reportedly hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after he was involved in a confrontation with a woman that required police intervention at his business in Mount Vernon, N.Y. According to The Journal News , cops on Saturday responded to a call from Of Our Own, Gordon's newly opened sports rehabilitation and training center, where they arrived around noon to find a distraught woman crying and shaking inside the entrance. The 31-year-old woman told police she packed her bag to leave after getting into an argument with Gordon, who then "began to destroy and throw everything" inside the store, according to the police report.

Members of the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works have been busy recently, cutting tracks at Memorial Field and preparing the field to lay down a semi-permanent track that can be used for walking, light jogging and exercise, according to Mayor Richard Thomas.

‘Parade Of Champions’ For Mount Vernon Basketball Champions Postponed

With rain expected to hit the area this week, officials in Mount Vernon have been forced to postpone the victory parade planned to celebrate the boy's varsity basketball team's state championship. On Wednesday, officials announced that due to the scheduled forecast, they were forced to postpone the parade - originally scheduled for Thursday - for two weeks, to Wednesday, April 19. The parade will step off at noon on April 19, starting at the Mount Vernon High School and continuing through to Mount Vernon City Hall.
