Scarsdale Developers Unveil Latest Affordable Housing Units In Westchester

A Scarsdale developer returned to his New Rochelle roots recently, celebrating the grand opening of the Washington House Apartments, 30 years after he worked on a different renovation at the same location. Last week, Mountco and Interfaith Dwellings Corp. teamed with local officials to celebrate the rededication of New Rochelle's latest affordable housing development, which includes two buildings and more than 200 units for income-eligible people older than 55-years-old.

Man who jumped to his death from GWB was convicted sex offender

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police identified the man who leaped from the bridge as Richard Genin, 65, of New Rochelle, said Joseph Pentangelo, spokesman for the bi-state agency. Pentangelo said a witness driving behind Genin's 2012 white Honda Civic at 3:20 p.m. reported seeing the driver stop his car in the lane of travel on the lower level of the bridge, get out and jump over the railing.

Jumper Pulled From Hudson By Westchester Police Was Registered Sex Offender

Authorities identified early Saturday a man who jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge the day before as a 65-year-old registered sex offender from New Rochelle. Richard Genin was still alive when the Westchester County Police Harbor Unit pulled him from the Hudson River after he jumped around 3:20 p.m., the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

Coalition calls for $800M in funding for clean water infrastructure in NY town

Joining an unlikely coalition of construction executives, union officials and conservationists, a group of local municipal officials and state lawmakers gathered yesterday at Hommocks Conservation area in Mamaroneck to focus attention on the critically needed clean water infrastructure projects in Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and surrounding communities. "Projects discussed not only included needed upgrades to wastewater and drinking water facilities, but the very underground infrastructure of pipes and culverts that are currently crumbling beneath our feet," said Nancy Seligson, Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck.
