Pancake Breakfast and Thanksgiving Parade

On November 19th, the Fund was pleased to host its annual Pancake Breakfast at New Rochelle High School before the 53rd Annual New Rochelle Thanksgiving Parade! The Breakfast was a huge success, welcoming 400 people from our community. Attendees were able to check-in for the parade onsite and have an opportunity to meet Frank Bernabei, this year's Grand Marshall! Thanks again to all of the Board of Education, District Administrators and School Principals for helping to flip and serve pancakes and to Whitsons Culinary Group for their support.

Anti-Bullying Speaker Charged with Felony Assault After Speaking at New Rochelle Middle School

A speaker at an anti-bullying event at a local middle school this fall was arrested four weeks later, after Election Day, on a charge of felony assault, Talk of the Sound has learned. Police say Shacara-Atiya McLaurin, 23, a former Teen Ambassador for Stomp Out Bullying, allegedly knocked a 75-year old man to the ground during a Black Lives Matter protest outside Trump Tower in Manhattan shortly after the November 8th Presidential Election.

Fuel Oil Truck Crashes into House While Garbage Truck Crashes into Tree

A fuel oil truck with a total maximum capacity of 2800 gallons crashed into the front steps of a home on Chauncey Avenue in New Rochelle shortly after 10 o'clock this morning. The driver of the truck appeared to have lost control further up the street, striking a car that was parallel parked sending it spinning out into the street coming within inches of crashing into a second car.

New Rochelle High School Sophomore Leads Students Anti-Trump Protest March

A New Rochelle High School sophomore convened an anti-Trump protest rally across the street from the Whitney Young auditorium early this morning as students, teachers, staff, school security and police looked on, some with admiration, others with indifference or derision. Valerie, a 10th grader at the school partnered with members of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, to hold the event which began as a protest rally but soon turned into a march on Trump Plaza in downtown New Rochelle.

Oil Tanker, Garbage Truck Crash Within Minutes On Same New Rochelle Street

New Rochelle police, fire and emergency personnel had a busy Friday morning, responding to a pair of trucks that were in the wrong place at the wrong time, nearly causing catastrophe. Officials confirmed that at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday, a tanker from N&S Fuel in Hawthorne came barreling down Chauncey Avenue before coming to a screeching halt just inches from a woman's Chauncey Avenue home, striking her porch, but missing the bulk of the residence.

New Rochelle Championship Soccer Squad Celebrated By High School

The team won the 2016 State Championship in November when it defeated Fairport High School 2-1 for the New York State Class AA title. "The road has now been traveled, and our flag planted," said head coach Jarohan Garcia at a celebration that drew students, faculty members, fans, district administrators and county and state legislators.

The Board of Trustees of The College of New Rochelle announced today that an anonymous benefactor recently donated $5 million to the "We Are CNR" fundraising campaign launched to ensure the College's future. The $5 million donation, along with another $1.5 million in donations came as the Board was facing a financial crisis which emerged earlier this fall.
