Westchester Teens Host Second Annual Hockey Fundraiser to Support Children Battling Neuroblastoma

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, on Sunday, September 17, Band of Parents hosted Put Cancer in the Penalty Box, a skating charity event at the Ice Hutch in Mount Vernon to help support research and treatment for children battling neuroblastoma. The team behind the annual event are New Rochelle teens Ethan Cohen and his friend Josh Lebowitz, from Larchmont, who came up with the concept for the fundraiser last year as part of their Bar Mitzvah project.

Anti-Trump residents can express their displeasure with the president and let off a little steam with a "Trumpetini" or two during a "Cards & Cocktails" party Wednesday, March 15 sponsored by Alvin & Friends in New Rochelle. Part of the ongoing, nationwide, #TheIdesofTrump effort, aimed at burying the White House with at least a million anti-Trump postcards on March 15, the event will offer locals a chance to write President Donald Trump a postcard to voice their displeasure.

Students Honored by Mamaroneck Artists’ Guild

New Rochelle High School visual arts students participated in the regional Mamaroneck Artists' Guild program, "2017 Young Artists on the Rise" and were honored at a reception at the MAG Gallery in Larchmont on Feb. 1. Eleven New Rochelle students won awards at the show: Nasreen Ahmed, 11th grade; Siena Callegari, 11th grade; Anne Hessel, 9th grade; Natalie Hernandez, 12th grade; Adina Hoppenstein, 12th grade; Amen Hussain, 11th grade; Eduardo Lopez, 11th grade; Fernanda Lujan, 11th grade; Colleen Maria, 12th grade; Jose Rodriguez, 12th grade; and Isaiah Shaw, 12th grade.

Larchmont, Mamaroneck Lions Clubs Are Among Oldest Worldwide

Both clubs are among the original members of the International Lions, the largest service organization in the world, which will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2017. Both clubs are working together and are looking to expand joint efforts with other clubs in the Sound shore area, from New Rochelle to Rye, and over to Eastchester and White Plains, he told Daily Voice.
