Ossining Declares Snow Emergency

With a blizzard warning in effect for much of southern New York, the Village of Ossining has declared a Snow Emergency effective at 9 p.m. Monday. During a Snow Emergency stopping/standing/parking is prohibited on designated Snow Emergency streets.

Sens. Carlucci, Klein Support Raising The Age At Ossining Roundtable

Sens. David Carlucci and Jeff Klein recently held a roundtable discussion in Ossining on the push to craft legislation that would raise the age of criminal responsibility from 16 to 18. The roundtable was keynoted by the Honorable Jonathan Lippman, former Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals who has been an outspoken advocate on the issue. In addition to Lippman, local elected officials, policy experts and community leaders who made various arguments in support of raising the age, joined Carlucci and Klein at the roundtable.

Village Of Ossining Rejects Roundabout Petition

The Village of Ossining announced Wednesday they are rejecting the petition submitted by the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce to pursue a referendum regarding a proposed roundabout for downtown. Of the 2,683 signatures submitted, 1,049 signatures were rejected, leaving 1,634 valid signatures, below the 2,146 signatures needed to force a referendum.

Northern Westchester Man Pleads Guilty To Check Forging

An Ossining man pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges following a two-year investigation by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said Friday that 24-year-old Devante Rainey has pleaded guilty to individual counts of identity theft and criminal possession of a forgery device for his role in an elaborate scheme.
