Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Peekskill's Field Library is selling new children's books at non-Grinch-like prices, says librarian Sally Bentley. The books were donated by individuals and publishers and will, Bentley said, "make great gifts for children of all ages."
Police Chief Eric Johansen announced the city will be opening a warming center at the Neighborhood Center at 4 Nelson Ave. The warming center will be open Thursday until 8:00 p.m., Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. During this period of extreme cold, people are reminded to check on family members and friends, especially the elderly; and to keep their pets indoors, Johansen said.
Jim Gibson runs Big Jim's Records, which sells vinyl, CDs, music posters, and other memorabilia, including some hard to find items. Gibson, a Yonkers native who lives in Peekskill, has been surrounded by music his entire life.
