Fire turns deadly in Peekskill

Fire officials say flames broke out in a multifamily home on 936 Diven St. around 5:15 a.m. today. Firefighters from Croton, Montrose and Buchanan responded with mutual aid. Neighbors tell News 12 there has been numerous flare-ups that have kept firefighters busy.

Macy’s Employee Stole From Store’s Cash Registers, Yorktown Police Say

A Lake Peekskill woman accused of stealing from the Macy's store at the Jefferson Valley Mall is facing a petty larceny charge, according to police. Camelia J. Ferraro was arrested on Dec. 23 after store security accused her of stealing $120 from two store registers about a week earlier, according to Yorktown police, who said the 20-year-old store employee turned herself in after Macy's security reported the alleged theft to authorities.

Wrong-Way Driver Slams Head-On Into State Trooper On Route 6 In Cortlandt

A New York State Police trooper was involved in a head-on collision in Peekskill Monday night when a driver strayed through a double yellow and struck an officer traveling from the Cortlandt barracks. Police confirmed that shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Monday night, a trooper was traveling westbound on Bear Mountain Bridge Road, when a driver in a Nissan sedan "failed to keep right and crossed into the westbound lane," where he struck the trooper head-on.
