Best-selling children's recording artist and preschool television favorite Laurie Berkner is coming to Westchester County! Laurie will bring her Greatest Hits Solo Tour to the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, 1008 Brown Street, Peekskill, NY at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8. Purchase College, State University of New York's Broadway Technical Theatre History Project, will present the Sixth Annual Broadway technical "Backstage Legends and Masters Award" to esteemed theater legend and Lake Peekskill resident, Joseph B. Forbes on Monday, April 24, at the Performing Arts Center on the college's campus. Forbes joins previous Backstage Legends and Masters honorees Artie Siccardi , Arnold Abramson , Fred Gallo , Gene O'Donovan , and Pete Feller, Sr. .
An exhibit of the works of Leonard Freed, a photographer known for his iconic images of the Civil Rights Movement, will be on display at the Field Library in Peekskill. The exhibit, "Marching On," is a carefully curated selection of 22 timeless images from Brigitte Freed's personal collection.
Peekskill High School art students have been working with HVCCA Artist-in-Residence Kristianne Molina to create their own pieces for the center's new art installation "Between I and Thou." The exhibit opens on Feb. 4. Under the guidance of Peekskill art teachers, Molina has spent the past several weeks working alongside approximately 100 students in grades 9-12 as the classes create a visual story through the art of fabric painting and collaging, A la the style of renowned African American artist Faith Ringgold, who will have her work on display at the show.
