Leonard B. Sand, Yonkers Segregation Case Judge, Dies At 88

Leonard B. Sand, 88, of Sleepy Hollow, best known as the federal judge who presided over the landmark case in which he found Yonkers officials had intentionally segregated public housing and schools, died on Saturday, Dec. 3, according to the New York Times. Sand, who also lived in Pound Ridge for many years, was best known for his work on the Yonkers case in which he ordered the city to come up with a plan that would offer low and moderate-income housing in mostly white neighborhoods.

Suspect Still At Large In Ward Pound Ridge Assault Of Jogger

Authorities continue to search for an alleged assailant following an incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the largest county park, and are asking for the public's help in providing possible tips. A woman reported to county police that she was jogging with her dog on the brown trail about noon when a man came up behind her and knocked her to the ground.

Pound Ridge Will See Sharply Colder Temps With Snow Possible

Things are going to take a dramatic turn by the end of the weekend, with snow possible for parts of the Hudson Valley and sharply colder temperatures prior to the Monday morning commute, according to the National Weather Service. After a high temperature hittin the lower 60s Friday, patchy fog will move in after 9 p.m. and should last through 9 a.m. Saturday.

Bedford Police Officer Meets With Cub Scouts Before Hike

Bedford Police Officer Doug Romero met with Bedford/Pound Ridge Cub Scouts Pack 170 recently, before the young students took off on a hike at Mianus River Gorge. During the course of the Nov. 13 experience, the scouts learned about local plants and habitats and about how to respect the environment, according to a statement from the scouts.
