Boston College incoming freshman Samantha Coffey has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team that will train and compete in an International Tournament in La Magna, Spain from Feb. 26-March 8. Coffey and her teammates will play the Under-19 sides from Norway on March 3 followed by Germany on March 5. The final game the US will play France on March 7. Coffey, a native of Sleepy Hollow, New York, is one of eight players the Eagles have added to the roster for the 2017 season.

Sleepy Hollow Middle School students taking part in the First Lego League Robotics Competition celebrated their third place finish Saturday in the competition which advances them to the next leg of the challenge. During the event, middle school students from throughout the region competed in teams while Sleepy Hollow teachers, parents, and student volunteers judged and ran the tournament.

Samantha Coffey, a Sleepy Hollow resident who is a senior at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, on Wednesday signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Boston College next fall. Coffey, a midfielder, was a member of the USA Under-18 Women's National Team last year, during which she traveled to Northern Ireland in the fall to play in the 2016 Women's International Cup.
