New Storm Could Bring Snow To Somers On Saturday

The storm that brought a light dusting and resulted in some slick spots on roadways Friday morning has moved east, but a coastal storm could bring a new round of snow on Saturday. The storm is expected to remain mainly east of the Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service, but a closer track to the coast may bring light accumulating snow, especially to areas farther south and east.

Somers Teen Charged With Arson, Burglary Of North Salem Home

A Somers teenager is facing felony charges after he broke into a North Salem home and allegedly attempted to set the house on fire using gasoline. State Police announced Friday that Jeremiah Healy, 17, has been arrested and charged with felony counts of arson, burglary and criminal mischief after he was caught breaking in through a kitchen window and causing fire damage in the home.

A 23-year-old Yorktown man is in the Westchester County Jail after state police say he stabbed a 28-year-old male from Mahopac after an overnight fight at PJ's Bar, located on Route 6 in Somers, escalated. State police from the Somers barracks charged James P. Nardella of Yorktown Heights with assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, on Sunday.

Westchester Convicted Killer Terry Losicco Released From Prison

A Stony Point man who spent years in prison for beating to death an elderly Somers woman in 1980, has been released from prison on parole for the second time, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Terry Losicco, 53, who served 36 years in prison for the bludgeoning death of 67-year-old Eleanor Prouty, was first released in March after eight appearances before the parole board.

Two water fountains at the high school and one at the middle school have tested positive for lead above levels allowed by the state, Somers school officials said.
