NO CHOICE: Legislator Virginia Perez says that Andrea Stewart-Cousins has not faced a primary challenge during her tenure and is now refusing to defend her record in a debate
VIRGINIA PEREZ’S STATEMENT: “I Am proud of my record and been ready to debate Andrea Stewart-Cousins at anytime or anyplace ,” Legislator Virginia Perez said.
“From the very beginning I have done the the very job that the people elected me to do and I have turned down a debate from a challenger. The real question Is Why Is Andrea Stewart-Cousins hiding from her record in Yonkers” added Legislator Virginia Perez
“We have given her chance after chance after chance to turn things around, to deliver for our community, and we have gotten no results or returns, So, w. hen my community calls me election cycle after election cycle after election cycle telling me they want me to represent them in that capacity, I, as their representative, am obligated to answer their call.”
Andrea Stewart-Cousins was first elected to the Westchester County Board of Legislators in 1995 representing Yonkers.
Andrea Stewart-Cousins won the Yonkers Senate seat in 2006 has safely held the seat until she was challenged this year by legislator Virginia Perez
Legislator Virginia Perez joined the county board representing Yonkers in 2011, and was one of the Westchester lawmakers to break with the board’s Democratic leadership to form a bi-partisan coalition.
Legislator Virginia Perez is serving her fourth term on the county board representing Yonkers after several hard-fought election battles for the county’s 17th District.
