BUSTED FLAT: Developer Tells IDA Chairman Mayor Mike Spano That The $12 Million Chicken Island Deal Is Dead

Mayor Mike Spano was celebrated big time last October when he announced Yonkers was selling a 6-acre parking lot in downtown to a AMS Acquisitions LLC, who was going to build a luxury hotel there.

But four months later Mayor Mike Spano says the developers is no longer interested in the deal, because of the Con Edison gas moratorium, that was announce last month.

AMS Acquisitions LLC, a Manhattan firm, originally agreed to buy the property from the city for $16 million.

But, now AMS has expressed to Mayor Mike Spano that they unequivocally wont be moving ahead with the plan that shopping, dining, apartment buildings and a luxury hotel to chicken Island.

Con Edison has told developers and Yonkers public officials that new gas connections will be approved until the utility decides it has reached capacity, which could happen before the March 15 cut off.
