YONKERS: The challenge of educating students in a school built in 1894 was brought into perspective as state and local officials visited School 9 last week and toured the newer Saunders Trades and Technical High School this week.

NY State Senator Shelley Mayer, a Yonkers native who also serves as the Senate’s Education Committee Chair, NY Assembly Member Michael R. Benedetto, who also serves as the Assembly’s Education Committee Chair, and Assembly member Dr. Nader Sayegh all took the tour.

Mayor Mike Spano, City Council President Mike Khader, City Council Majority Leader Michael Sabatino, Deputy Mayor Jim Cavanaugh were also joined by were joined by Yonkers Council of PTAs president Rob Rijos, and Yonkers Federation of Teachers president Samantha Rosado-Ciriello
