Fallen firefighter remembered as hero, family man

A New York City fire battalion chief killed by debris from a house explosion last week was remembered Saturday as a hero and a dedicated family man at his funeral service attended by thousands of firefighters, elected officials, friends and family. Michael Fahy's wife and two of their three young children spoke tenderly about him at the Roman Catholic Mass at the Annunciation Church, in Yonkers, that Cardinal Timothy Dolan helped officiate.

NJ holding suspect in blast that killed NY firefighter

New Jersey authorities are holding the man wanted in New York City in connection with the building explosion that killed FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy of Yonkers. Julio Salcedo Contrer, 34, was arrested Tuesday in Cliffside Park, New Jersey and is being held in the Bergen County jail as a fugitive from justice, jail spokesman Anthony Cureton said Wednesday.
