Stewart-Cousins Opposes Barge Anchorages

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins submitted public comments to the United States Coast Guard recently declaring her staunch opposition to the their proposal to establish ten or more new barge anchorage sites on the Hudson River between Yonkers and Kingston. Senator Stewart-Cousins represents the Hudson River communities that would be most affected by the installation of these anchorages.

Westchester Legislators Pass Resolution Against Riverfront Barge Parking

The Westchester County Board of Legislators passed a resolution in opposition of the Coast Guard's proposal to create anchorage sites for barges that will affect several Westchester communities along the Hudson River. On Monday night, the Board unanimously passed the resolution opposing the Coast Guard's plan, which would include the installation of 16 anchor berths across 715 acres on the water between Yonkers and the Dobbs Ferry Train Station.

Westchester Man Charged With Kidnapping, Attempted Murder In I-87 Incident

A Bronx man has been arraigned on attempted murder and kidnapping charges after allegedly abducting his victim, firing his gun at her in the car, fleeing in Yonkers and leading police on a nine hour manhunt that ended in Hastings-on-Hudson. On Tuesday, acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced that Johuan Ramos, 28, was arraigned on a six-count felony indictment that includes attempted murder, kidnapping and assault charges.
