Inmate From Yonkers Indicted For Violent Attack On Corrections Officer

Two inmates at the Westchester County Jail are facing new charges after hospitalizing a corrections officer last month who still has been unable to return to work. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced the indictment and arraignment of Mount Vernon resident Ishmael Ben Reuben and Yonkers resident Carlos Yarborough, who allegedly beat an officer while he was on duty on April 27. According to the indictment, at approximately 9:40 p.m. on the day of the incident, as inmates were being directed to their cells for the evening, Ben Reuben and Yarborough lingered in the jail's hallway between the Day Room and their cell block before becoming verbally threatening toward the officer.

A registered "sexually violent offender" accused of having deviate sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl has reported an address change in Yonkers. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Friday to Westchester County residents regarding the residency of 50-year-old John Vega, who has moved to a Yonkers apartment to a residence on Johnson Street in Mount Vernon.

‘Sexually Violent’ Offender Moves To Yonkers From Mount Vernon

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 54-year-old Maurice Mitchell, who has moved from an apartment in Mount Vernon to a residence on Garfield Street in Yonkers. The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Mitchell as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a "high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety."
