YONKERS: Encouraging kids to experience the joy of the written word, members of the #YonkersPD were handing out free story and chapter books to children and their families last week at the Yonkers Public Library Riverfront branch as part of the Department’s Need to Read program.
#NeedToRead is about getting books in the hands of kids, especially families with limited resources, helping to nurture that fundamental skill which contributes to a lifetime of success.
Books are collected throughout the year by the Yonkers Police Department’s Community Affairs Division.
