Wake to be held for fallen FDNY chief

Thousands are expected to turn out over the next two days for wake services for a firefighter from Yonkers who was killed in an explosion in the Bronx. Services to honor FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy will be held at the Flower Funeral Home starting at 2 p.m. today and Friday.

Michael Fahy, the 44-year-old FDNY battalion chief who lived in the Crestwood section of Yonkers, died after a house explosion in the Bronx Tuesday. Fahy, a beloved father of three, is being remembered by his friends and colleagues as a "firefighter's firefighter" and family man who devoted his life to serving others.

Yonkers resident and North Rockland native Michael Fahy, 44, who was killed Tuesday during an explosion at a marijuana grow house in the Bronx, grew up with FDNY blood coursing through his veins, according to multiple sources. A battalion chief, Fahy, came from a family dedicated to the department with his father serving 33 years with the department, fighting fire after fire to become a battalion chief himself, before retiring in 2001, said the New York Post.

Riley, Daniel

Ryan is survived by his fiancee, Trish Perino; son Jesse Ryan; mother Irene Ryan; brother John Ryan; sister Nancy Mills and her husband John; niece Amanda Ryan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
