Jackson Sydnor, a Norwalk native and longtime Peekskill, N.Y. resident died Monday, Aug. 14, after a short illness. He was 74. Born in Norwalk on June 28, 1943, Sydnor was raised in Yonkers, N.Y. and was predeceased by his parents, Thomas, Sr. and Lillian , and a brother, Thomas, Jr. He is survived by his life partner Bernice Hull; sisters Mary Fields, Stephanie Smith, Marva Petrus and Claudette Alston; brothers, Norvell Sydnor and Lloyd Sydnor; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncle, Lloyd Jackson.
Central Avenue will be closed for several hours on Tuesday night in Yonkers as the city hosts a memorial service for 19-year-old Nina Cordero, who died in a car crash over the weekend. Police said that northbound and southbound lanes of Central Park Avenue will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. by Sadore Lane for the memorial service.
