Charges Dropped Against Yonkers Neurologist In $57 Million Healthcare Case

Federal charges have been dropped against a Westchester County neurologist who was among six charged in an alleged $57 million health care fraud scheme that spanned more than a decade. The U.S. Attorney's Office has dropped the case against Emad Soliman, a New Castle resident who practices in Yonkers who had been charged in an alleged 12-year-scheme to "defraud Medicaid, Medicare and other private health insurance companies out of more than $50 million."

Sex Offender Reports Move To Yonkers

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 51-year-old Christopher Lyons, who has moved to an apartment on South Broadway in Yonkers. The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Lyons as a level three threat, which means he is a "high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety."

Yonkers Drug Kingpin Gets Prison Time Following $50 Million Heroin Seizure

A Westchester drug kingpin who had $50 million worth of heroin seized by the DEA is heading to prison for his role running an extensive narcotics operation. Bridget Brennan, New York City's Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced this week that 49-year-old Jose "Hippie" Mercedes Sr. of Yonkers has been sentenced to 14 years in state prison, followed by five years post-release supervision for possession of more than 150 pounds of heroin.

Suspect Sentenced To Prison For Role In Fatal Stabbing Of Yonkers Man

A Westchester County man has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison after pleading guilty to his involvement in the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old Yonkers resident. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday athat 22-year-old Mount Vernon resident Donte Pace has ben sentenced to 14-years in state prison after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter earlier this year for his role in the fatal assault of his victim last October.

Man Charged In String Of Cab Robberies In Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Bronx

A Westchester man who committed a string of knife-point robberies and a car jacking of cab drivers was charged in Manhattan Federal court on Monday, according to Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Mount Vernon resident Allanmon Mavumkal, 30, conducted a spree of robberies involving at least 10 livery cabs in the Bronx, Mount Vernon and Yonkers, during which he robbed the cab drivers of cash, personal items, and their cabs at knife-point, according to Kim.

Yonkers Man Sentenced For Revenge Murder Of 16-Year-Old After Fistfight

Joon Kim, the acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced that Juan "KJ" Martinez has of Yonkers been sentenced in United States district court to a term of 30 years in prison for his participation in a racketeering conspiracy and the murder of a 16-year-old in September 2005. Martinez was a member of the Yonkers faction of the Trinitarios Gang, which was formed in the New York State prison system in the early 1990s, Kim noted.
