A public hearing is being requested of the U.S. Coast Guard by Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand over the anchorage sites, which are considered necessary for safe navigation up the river.
White Plains is just one of numerous communities to cancel a parade. The city will hold a Memorial Day ceremony in the Common Council Chamber at City Hall at 10:00 a.m. Other parades that have been canceled include Yonkers, Ossining, Eastchester/Tuckahoe, Yorktown, Mount Kisco, and Stony Point.
