The Long Branch public library’s barbershop reading program “Fade to Books” is being touted as a model by the New Jersey State Library. “We like their program so much that we want to replicate it across the state,” said Peggy Cadigan, New Jersey State Library’s Librarian for Innovation.

Each Tuesday, chief librarian Laura Emery or one of her staff dives into the DVD section of the local Walmart, searching for the latest romcom or actor Will Smith’s new blockbuster. The effort seems quaint in the age of Netflix and other on-demand movie and TV services.
Minot Librarian launches Books ‘n Brews Book Club
Last year Brendan Chella, the adult services librarian at the Minot Public Library, launched the Books ‘n Brews Book Club. Starting in January, the book club will meet on the first Thursday of every month at the Tap Room in downtown Minot.
