The new-gen Broadway musical “Fun Home” is coming home to Utah with a regional premiere at Salt Lake Acting Company, after the Tony Award-winning musical received development attention at a Sundance Theatre Lab. The musical, with a book and lyrics by Lisa Kron and music by Jeanine Tesori, is an unlikely adaptation of Alison Bechdel’s 2006 graphic memoir about coming to terms with her sexuality and that of her gay father after being raised in a funeral home.

The National Theatre’s Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, adapted by Simon Stephens from Mark Haddon’s best-selling book, is set to return to Bath. Appearing at the Theatre Royal for a run of 16 performances, the 2017 UK tour plays Bath from Tuesday, March 14 to Saturday, March 25. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is the recipient of a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards, including Best New Play, Best Director, Best Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design – more Oliviers than any other single play in the history of the West End.
Bryan Cranston to make London stage debut
The ‘Breaking Bad’ actor will appear at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton Theatre from November playing unstable television news anchor Howard Beale in the stage adaptation of the 1976 movie, which won Peter Finch an Oscar for the same role. Rufus Norris, National Theatre director joked he had first approached Bryan for the role at the Tony Awards in New York 18 months ago, when the 60-year-old actor presented the National with the Best Play award for ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time’.
