Amazon has acquired the rights to the Martin Scorsese -produced project, which will debut on its streaming service on May 26 as a six-part series. Long Strange Trip is fully sanctioned by The Grateful Dead and was directed by Amir Bar-Lev , whose credits include the critically acclaimed doc The Tillman Story .

Amazon has acquired Grateful Dead documentary Long Strange Trip ahead of the film's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Amir Bar-Lev, the six-part Long Strange Trip is set to debut on Amazon's Prime Video streaming service in the U.S. and U.K. starting May 26. "I've always admired the spirit and creativity of the Grateful Dead," Scorsese said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter .

Director Amir Bar-Lev and executive producer Martin Scorsese have sold the rights to the six-part Grateful Dead documentary Long Strange Trip to Amazon. The four hour examination of the famed rock group is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and United Kingdom on May 26. As reported , the long in the making documentary film will make its world debut next week at the Sundance Film Festival.
