Road Work Forces Lane Closures On Hutchinson River Parkway

Westchester County motorists should take note that lane closures are expected for both northbound and southbound sides of the Hutchinson River Parkway, between Exit 7 and Exit 29 , beginning Monday, June 13, through Thursday, June 16, for road maintenance. The closures will affect commuters in Scarsdale and Harrison; the cities of New Rochelle and Mount Vernon, and the villages of Eastchester and Pelham from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., daily.

The 10 Most-Shorted Stocks in the S&P 1500

The most recent data on the 25 most heavily shorted stocks center in the consumer discretionary, financial services and energy sectors, according to Bespoke Investment Group, a Harrison, N.Y.-based investment firm, citing short interest figures as of May 13. Bespoke, in a blog post last week, provided a list of the 25 S&P 1500 stocks that have the highest short interest levels as a percentage of float. "In terms of overall performance, short-sellers should be having a pretty good month," Bespoke said on May 25. "The average performance of the 25 stocks listed is a decline of 6.93% compared to a gain of 1.14% for the S&P 1500 as a whole.

Harrison Councilman Victor Villalta dead at 67

Victor B. Villalta, a Democrat who for the most part of the last decade served Harrison as Second Ward councilman, died Tuesday, May 24. Villalta was born in Lima, Peru, on March 12, 1949, and his family came to the United States in 1964 when he was just 14. They chose Harrison as their home - and he'd go on to spend the rest of his life here. A year later, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Residents seek removal of Port Chester fire chief

Residents are calling for the removal of Port Chester Fire Chief Edward Quinn and the reinstatement of eight paid firefighters who lost their jobs due to budget cuts. On Wednesday, News 12 obtained a secretly recorded audiotape that reportedly captures Quinn instructing his men to vandalize the Port Chester home of a paid Harrison firefighter.
