Basildon Council, Rayleigh Town Council and Rawreth Parish Council have each hit out at plans for a giant plant at Dollymans Farm, off Doublegate Lane, Rawreth. It is expected to specialise in construction waste, as Essex County Council and Southend Council were asked to prepare a new plan for waste disposal up to 2032.

Man appears in court charged with attempted murder of police officer in stabbing outside pub
A MAN has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a police officer who was stabbed outside a pub. Andrew Beadie, 20, of Claremont Road, Basildon , is also charged with two counts of affray in relation to the incident in an alleyway near the Bow Bells Pub, in Bow Road, London, on November 22. Janine Morris, 34 of Rainhill Way, Bow, was also charged with attempted murder and two counts of affray but the charges have now been dropped.
16-year-old ‘most wanted burglar’ who stole seven cars and burgled 12 properties appears in court
A TEENAGE crimewave, who was once dubbed Basildon ‘s ‘most wanted burglar’, has admitted 19 charges of burglary and vehicle thefts. The 16-year-old, from Laindon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court charged with a string of offences relating to burglaries in Vange, Basildon, Billericay and Leigh .
Stray cat Pickle has successful tumour operation
It is believed the cat’s owner died and Pickle, along with another cat, were left to fend for themselves on the street. She was taken in by Basildon Cat Rescue and donations flooded in to fund an operation to remove the growth and any other health costs.
‘An hour’s training to drive an ambulance’: Concerns raised over blue light training
Workers at a private ambulance firm covering south west Hertfordshire have only had an hour’s training to drive vehicles at high speed, it has been reported. Staff at the Private Ambulance Service in Basildon, Essex, which provides emergency cover for the East of England Ambulance Service , also criticised some of the equipment in the ambulances, saying it was in a poor state.
