THE leader of the Basingstok e Labour party has slammed his Conservative counterparts for going against the town centre by sup porting the proposed redevelopment of the leisure park. At the full council meeting on February 23, Cllr Paul Harvey said that he doesn’t understand what the council has against the town centre, and by supporting the proposed A 200 million redevelopment it would have a direct effect on jobs and footfall to places like the Top of The Town .

Man taken to hospital with head and hand injuries follow assault
A 53-year-old man was walking between Dryden Close and Shakespeare Road, Popley around 6.30pm on Saturday, February 18 when he was attacked by another man. Having suffered a minor injury to his head and another to his hand he was taken to Basingstoke hospital for treatment.
Award for officer who tackled bottle-wielding man
THE officer who would not let her violent and dangerous attacker get away has been praised at the last Chief Constable’s Awards of the year. PC Michelle Harris was on patrol responding to a request to carry out a search in Basingstoke for a man who was suspected of burglary.
