Historic former Blackburn church to host major beer festival
More than 30 ales will be on offer at Holy Trinity Church in Mount Pleasant, Blackburn, on April 22 and 23. The Grade II-listed gothic structure, built between 1837 and 1846, has been empty for more than 30 years since it closed as a place of worship in 1981. The festival, with free entrance, is the latest in a series of events designed bring life back to the church.

Budweiser’s Super Bowl ad celebrates immigrant tale of its co-founder
Moving away from the stories of love, puppies and horses from years past, Budweiser took a deeper approach to their 2017 Super Bowl commercial. Titled “Born The Hard Way,” the beer ad tells the story of a young immigrant , Adolphus Busch, on his journey from Hamburg, Germany to St. Louis, where he meets future Budweiser co-founder Eberhard Anheuser.
The next beer frontier: the moon
If a team of UC San Diego engineering students has its way, we may soon be sipping Sea of Tranquility Saison and Waxing and Waning Wheat Ale. The undergraduates at the Jacobs School of Engineering hope to answer an age-old scientific riddle: Can beer be brewed on the moon? Finalists in the Lab2Moon competition, the local scholars want to test the viability of yeast in space, equipping an Indian spacecraft with tiny canisters of unfermented beer, known as wort, and yeast.
