Michael Kightly’s stunning free kick was the pick of the goals but a double from Tomer Hemed, a powerful header from Glenn Murray and a near-post finish from Sam Baldock ensured Chris Hughton’s side took all three points and go top of the league for a few hours at least, before Newcastle United play this evening.

Nottingham Forest have made an approach for Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough – but the Brewers could still make two signings ahead of their trip to Queens Park Rangers tomorrow. While chairman Ben Robinson meets with Nigel Clough today to discuss Forest’s approach, Fulham pair Lasse Vigen Christensen and Cauley Woodrow could become Albion’s fourth and fifth signings of the January transfer window.
