Bank of Ireland opens free workspace for startups in New York

Bank of Ireland have today announced the opening of startlab NYC, an incubation space that will support Bank of Ireland startup customers seeking to scale their business and enter the US market. The collaborative space, located in Manhattan on the 41st floor of 2 Grand Central, is the first offering of its kind from an Irish bank outside of Ireland.

Music group youngsters to perform at St Patrick’s event in Whitnash

Irish music and dancing group Comhaltas’ Leamington branch members will perform at an event to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Whitnash on Friday March 17. The event, including traditional music and dancing displays, will take place at the Plough and Harrow pub in Whitnash Road for the second year running with the entertainment starting at 5pm and going on until 9pm. Over the last few years, the Irish music group have made it through the finals of the All Britain Fleadh, and onto the All Ireland finals in Sligo and Ennis.

Garda arrest 51 people in the Kilkenny area

Garda have arrested 51 people and have carried out 19 planned searches in the Kilkenny area over the past three days, as part of Operation Thor-Project Storm. Fifteeen of those arrested were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at various Garda Stations in the Kilkenny/Carlow Division.

Man guilty of recording child abuse of nephew

A court has heard how a 27-year-old man videoed and photographed his six-year-old disabled nephew being seriously sexually assaulted. Clonmel Circuit Court heard the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, has pleaded guilty to producing child abuse material.
