I understand a new scheme aimed at cracking down on street drinking and other anti-social behaviours in Spalding town centre has been launched. A Public Spaces Protection Order has been set up by South Holland District Council and I have seen recent reports that these areas cover St Thomas’ Road north to West Elloe Avenue and from the railway station east to Commercial Road.
Court round-up: Grantham area defendants brought before the courts
John Thomas Barrand, 46, of Belton Avenue, Grantham: admits assaulting a woman and a man by beating at a property on High Dyke, Woodnook, on December 5. Also admits damaging a mobile phone worth A 200. Barrand was discharged conditionally for 12 months and made subject of a restraining order to protect the female victim, preventing him from attended the property in Woodnook or Tropicana Tan in The George Centre in Grantham.
Leeds singing star Curtis wows on Let It Shine
Self-taught pianist and songwriter Curtis Johns, 23, gave a stunning performance on Saturday night’s episode of Let It Shine, which aims to find five men to form a boyband to star in a Take That-themed musical. Curtis, who grew up in Seacroft and has written songs for X-Factor star Matt Cardle, performed a cover of a track by another local artist – Corinne Bailey Rae’s Put Your Records On.
