Horwich loco brought back to life after 750,000 volunteer project
A STEAM engine which was built in Horwich in the 1950s has been brought back to life and christened the ‘Lancashire Lazarus’. The locomotive, numbered 76084, is the youngest of 10 surviving engines and was built at the Horwich Works in 1957.

A woman was caught drink-driving after being seen going the wrong way down a one way street, a court has heard today. Entries for floats in this year’s Lord Mayor’s Procession have now opened and Norwich City Council is encouraging local people and businesses to get involved with the exciting event. A 47-year-old man from Magdalen in Norfolk was caught on CCTV shooting his wife in the head with a shotgun, an inquest heard today. Stephen Muncaster, who was the uncle of so-called “Lotto lout” Michael Carroll from Downham Market, killed Allison, 48, as she sat on the sofa before turning the gun on himself.

Fireworks drama in King’s Lynn on Christmas Day
The drama unfolded at about 2.30pm when the ambulance were called to the park off Tennyson Avenue to deal with a man who had been badly burnt by “an explosion of fireworks”. The East Anglian Air Ambulance was called and the man was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but later transferred to the critical burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
