Bill addresses ‘toxic relationship between US and Pakistan

Entitled “Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Act of 2015,” a bill introduced by Rep. Ted Poe would designate Pakistan one of the world’s originators of globalized state-sponsored terrorism. Poe said upon introducing the bill on Thursday, “Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the United States for years,” Poe is the chairman of Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade of the House Foreign Relations Committee.

Pakistan’s parliament is set to debate a bill next week that would legalize trials before military courts for another two years, a measure human rights activists say negates the basic principles of justice and denies those on trial the chance for a fair defense. 170 peacocks die of contagious disease in Pakistan

Islamabad, Feb 27 – Some 170 peacocks have reportedly succumbed to an avian disease in Pakistan’s Tharparkar region, local media reported. Tharparkar’s honorary district game warden Talook Chand Valasai confirmed the death toll, saying at least 30 birds died in various parts of the desert during the last couple of days.
