Funding approved for two new community defibrillator devices in Oxenhope
PARISH councillors in Oxenhope have agreed to spend up to A 3,800 to equip their village with two publicly accessible defibrillators. A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for more than six years for raping and repeatedly beating a woman. Gareth Owen, of Manor Drive, Cottingley , Bingley , was convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court after a trial lasting several days.

Tougher English tests could be introduced for cab drivers across West Yorkshire
Calderdale Council is expected next week to approve the introduction of an in-house English test for all new applications for both hackney carriage and private hire licences. A report to the authority’s licensing and regulatory committee outlines that this is set to be part of a consistent approach across the region, whereby all authorities are considering introducing a minimum standard equivalent to ESOL Level 3. But Bradford is still considering options when it comes to making changes to its current English test for cabbies, it has emerged.

Man, 61, injured in collision with car
The incident took place at the junction of Dirkhill Road and Laisteridge Lane, Great Horton , at around 7.30pm tonight. Police and an ambulance attended the scene and the man, a pedestrian, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary suffering from a cut to his head.

RESIDENTS opposed to a new housing development on a former football field in Apperley Bridge have claimed that building on the site could pose a flood risk to nearby homes. Bellway Homes has applied to Bradford Council to build 45 houses on the Harrogate Road site, which was the home of local amateur side Crag Road United until 2011.
