Tierney v Lay war of words set to go before the conduct committee of Fenland District Council
Allegations by 78-year-old UKIP councillor Alan Lay that he was threatened by the mayor of Wisbech Garry Tibbs will be considered by the conduct committee of Fenland Council following a complaint by deputy mayor Steve Tierney. Cllr Tierney claims that during a Wisbech town council meeting discussing the minutes Cllr Lay claimed that Cllr Tibbs had threatened him at the previous meeting.

An eagle eyed motorist posted a photo of a police car with a number plate obscured by dirt – on the day police in Ely fined a motorist 100 for the same offence! “One rule for them, one for us?” questioned the reader who sent in the photo of the Wisbech police just hours after Cambs police released details of the Ely offender.
Care workers found not guilty following Bawsey Pits drowning trial
Support workers who had been on trial accused of failing to take care of a teenager who drowned at Bawsey Pits, near King’s Lynn, have today been found not guilty. Umar Balogun, 16, drowned whilst on a trip to a former sand quarry on July 16, 2013, accompanied by support workers Vanda Cawley and Kevin Roweth.
Three-year-old Nadia from Wisbech transformed into princess for a day
A seriously ill three-year-old girl from Wisbech had her wish granted to become a princess for the day. “Happy and caring” Nadia Bartnik travelled to Leamington Spa with her family, where she had a royal makeover at the Raspberry Salon, thanks to the charity Rays of Sunshine.

UKIP Councillor Paul Clapp has warned people in Wisbech to be vigilant after a knife was discovered in a bush by litter pickers. The knife, which appears to have a blade of around three inches, was found by volunteers from the Oasis Community Centre, who were carrying out a litter-pick along Cherry Road on Monday .
